World Taxidermy Championship

This is one of those videos that will completely suck you in.  It’s amazing.  I’m a big fan of taxidermy, but I’m having a hard time convincing Mrs. RCS to let any in the house.  However, I could see bringing her on a fun filled weekend to this event.  I’m going. Period.

Start with a nice fish mount, something either of you caught, and go from there.  I’m not sure what her aversion is to taxidermy, but as long as you don’t go all Brad Wesley you should be fine.ReplyCancel

Great video. As far as getting the taxidermy in the house, having a specific room helps- in our case, a more rustic den is where my mounts are relegated to. That and make it about more than just a “trophy” if you can. Once she knows and understands that the mount is more of a reminder of a special event – such as your first of a species or the circumstances of the hunt were special or it just comes from an extra-memorable hunt – then she may be more willing to allow it. ReplyCancel

Start with the smaller plains game antelopes, like an impala or something like a black buck.  Both are relatively small, elegant and beautiful mountsReplyCancel
