This Is My ‘Super Bowl’ Week

It’s finally here. Masters week. I know I talked about this last year, but I’ve been waiting 51 weeks…so I’m excited. Being a Georgia boy and an avid golfer, we take great pride in the Masters. It’s great watching – everyone is on their best behavior, and passes to any day – practice round or tournament play – are like gold.
The best part about the Masters – Tradition. Period. ‘A Tradition Unlike Any Other’.

Last year’s event was fun to watch – even though there wasn’t much competition in the final round. Phil Mickelson had it dialed in. His second shot on 13 was one of the greatest shots I’ve ever seen.

It’s very unlikely that any of us will ever get to play Augusta. Until now. I’m not a video game guy, but my buddy got the new Tiger Woods 2012 for his Wii…shot five under on the back side…not bad.

At the time of this post, I do not have a pass for this year. I am still looking hard…BUT – I did upgrade my TV so that I can enjoy the hours of coverage the way the Lord intended for the Masters to be seen on TV: in High Definition. Those bikini waxed greens should look pretty good…

Augusta is my Mecca . Leaving Savannah in an hour . Just hoping the "get in the hole" morons don't make it this year .

Having grown up just across the Savannah from Augusta in South Carolina this is my favorite week of the year. Being fortunate enough to go every year since '89, I'm beyond spoiled but I don't take it for granted.

The ANGC is the most perfect place on earth. Everything is done the right way even down to how cheap the food is. Sure they could charge $5 for beer and $5 sandwich but they choose not to. My favorites are the egg salad and the ham and cheese on rye washed down with a Masters Light beer.

I really enjoy your blog and read it regularly.

    Ben

I'm lucky enough to have married into a family with tickets to The Masters. I still vividly remember my first walk through those gates off Washington Road like it was yesterday. Augusta National is the one place that words or pictures can never fully describe. To this day, I always tell people, "If there is a Heaven, it looks like Augusta National."
