Thanksgiving Lounging

Thanksgiving break is not only a great time to see family and give thanks for a wonderful year.  It’s also a time to be a complete lazy bum.  Lounging is as important to a few days off as formal dinners with your extended family.  Get some serious couch time between meals: enjoy some boring NFL games, some “Die Hard” marathons, and some zzz’s.

Most of my situational outfits are for events outside the home.  This one, however, is for hanging at home.  Comfort is key, as well as mobility from the couch to the kitchen to letting the dog out.  Here’s how I do it:

From top left:

1. Sendero Provisions Mescalero Moon Hat:  It all starts with the lid.  Throw it on and you don’t have to shower until right before dinner (maybe).
2. North Face Full Zip Fleece:  A good jacket that acts as a backup pillow, extra layer of warmth, and a jacket your better half can borrow when the fire burns out.
3. Vineyard Vines Five Pocket Cords:  Five pocket cords have been around forever…long before the new five pocket phenomenon.  Keep it classic with the originals.
4. Collared Greens Largemouth Bass Longsleeve T-shirt:  Casual, comfortable, and perfect for camping out on the couch.
5. Trask Gallatin Belt:  Don’t think too deep on this, but never spend good money on a bad belt.  They are meant to last.
6. Smartwool Crew Socks:  It’s cold.  Protect your feet, and do it well.  I’m a Smartwool convert.  These socks are awesome.
7. Cole Haan Grant Canoe Camp Mocs:  I treat these like house shoes.  Wear around the house, OK for heading outside for a toss of the pigskin or throwing the ball for the dog, rinse and repeat.  They’ll look perfect after a few Thanksgivings.
8. Filson Barrel Pack Duffel Bag:  You don’t need too much for Thanksgiving weekend, so pack it in something good.

Happy napping…

My family, and now my in-laws, have traditionally had thanksgiving as a late lunch so getting out of the lounging stage can be a challenge
