Sid Mashburn’s New Suit

Sid Mashburn, the owner of the iconic Atlanta men’s store of the same name, has taken a sockless leap forward with the recent release of his own suit.

The Suit in Charcoal

This suit is different. Made in Italy with full-canvas construction, Bemberg lining, horn buttons, and significant hand work, there’s nothing like it at this price point (starting at $995 – $1395 off the rack – custom has approximately a 20% premium). Sid’s suit features a slimmer cut with natural shoulders and a bit shorter length. The fit is so flattering that it’s possible to lose 10 pounds (visually) as you put it on. The high armholes and full sleeves are built for better mobility; this is the suit jacket you don’t have to remove to get to work. The pants are made with a slightly lower rise and are a bit slimmer through the legs. They complete the look.

The Suit in Navy Blue

The essence of ‘style’ with this suit is simple: you’ll be able to wear it in ten years and style-wise it will still work. It’s a timeless look.  What’s better – the more miles you put on the suit, the better it fits.  Since it has a full canvas construction (wool and horsehair piece of fabric sewn between the outer fabric and the interlining that acts as the skeleton of the jacket), the suit will breakdown naturally to your body. You will not find a better value proposition for the quality and fit.

The Insides

To give the best reason to stop by, Master Tailor Quang Dau, and his team of Tailors are ready to give your suit the final touches and they are available to make any adjustments down the road.

After going through all the suit details, Sid and I sat and chatted:

Who is the Sid Mashburn Customer?

SM – Every man.  We try not to think of men as a demographic, we try to consider the psychographic… a man’s interests, his lifestyle, his opinions, his needs and his vocations. We tend to help guys that either really appreciate what we are doing here, or guys that know they need some help.  Either way, I want everyone to leave the store knowing that they were well tended to, and were taken care of.

What does ‘looking good’ mean to you?

SM – Being comfortable in your own skin, in your own clothes and being ready to dress for any occasion.  Deion ‘Prime Time’ Sanders said it well: ‘If you look good, you feel good, If you feel good, you play good, If you play good, they pay good’.

What coming?

SM – More Spring stuff every day.  We’ll also be getting more Suits, Sport Jackets as well as Tuxedos. Bigger (literally) news is that we are taking over 2700 square feet next door, which will allow us to expand and combine with my wife’s store ANN MASHBURN. Very exciting stuff…

Special thanks to the folks at Garden & Gun for posting this on their blog.
