Red Clay Soul Gift Guide #1: License to Kill

This is a fun little tradition we’ve started here at Red Clay Soul, and by all means we are going to continue this year.  We always pick a theme for the gift guides, so in honor of Spectre, we are going James Bond this year.  That’s right, we’re going to 007 out…  Santa gets it, folks.

First up, the 1989 classic License to Kill.  It was Timothy Dalton’s second and last Bond movie, and it is filled with 80’s-esque essence.  We are going to focus on the title…here is a collection of gifts for the hunter, the fisherman, and the outdoorsman in your life.  Live it up:

From top left:

1. Beretta Silver Pigeon Shotgun:  Well, a license to kill is a great thing to have, but as important is the actual tool of the trade.  This Christmas, splurge a little…adding a Beretta is the gift that keeps on giving.
2. State Tradition Waxed Cotton Hat:  When it rains, it pours.  A good waxed hat will do for your head what a Barbour does for your back.  No promise that it’ll keep your hair looking right.
3. Southern Proper Shooting Vest:  Pockets + Pockets + Style.  The ladies at Southern Proper knocked it out of the park with their Shooting Vest from their Sportsman Collection.  The blue is a nice change from the typical Earth-based colors.  Give it a go…
4. Orvis Battenkill Shotgun Case:  You’ve got to tote it around, so tote well.  Orvis Battenkill is as nice as it gets, and the price point is a great value proposition.  Why wouldn’t you invest in a nice case when you are carrying around good firepower?
5. Ball & Buck X Randolph Engineering Sunglasses:  Ball & Buck has nailed the outdoors/menswear style.  Their collaboration with Randolph Engineering makes perfect sense.  Yes, these glasses are officially on the RCS Christmas List (capitalized for a reason).
6. Lava Buns Heated Seat:  This could be a brilliant gift for the deer stand/duck blind, or a new nickname for Mrs. RCS…either way, it’s a winner.
7. Red Fox Chore Coat:  For those scouting walks with the dogs.  There is always room for tweed.  With pockets….that’s what we use coats like this for: work.
8. Dubarry Galway Boots:  Lightweight, waterproof, and good looking…just don’t wear them outside your pants when in a non-hunting scenario.  The Han Solo look is reserved for the ladies.
9. Ledbury Windermere Hunting Shirt:  You get what you pay for with your typical hunting shirt.  They are a little boxy and poorly made.  Ledbury has the answer…not only does it look good, but the cut is spot on, and the function is there.
10. Drake’s Fox Tie:  Wear something appropriate to dinner under that jacket.  Touchdown.
11. Orvis Trigger Hunting Gloves:  Function and warmth…you can pull the trigger, text your friends, and keep your hands warm with these bad boys.
12. Vintage Carving Set:  I’m a huge proponent of buying vintage kitchen tools.  They don’t make them like they used to, and when taken care of, they will last for generations.  Add something to the mix this year for your favorite hunter…it makes serving that much more enjoyable.
13. “A New Turn in the South” by Hugh Acheson Cookbook: If there’s anyone who can help you cook your kill, it’s Hugh.  And it will be delicious.
