RCS Gift Guide #3: Little Rock

Moving on to gift guide #3, for our waterfowlers.  This is the gift guide for the guy that puts in the work: in the blind, in the pit, in timber.  Shooting ducks is an experience like no other, and is celebrated as a lifestyle all year long – either out living it, or constantly thinking about it.  One of our favorite spots to duck hunt is Arkansas, so let’s get down to business out in Little Rock:

From top left:

1. Tom Beckbe Tensaw Jacket:  There are so many duck hunting jackets, but I really like the idea of using a piece for the field that transitions into everyday winter wear as well.  The Tensaw looks great out and about, and works perfectly as a waterfowl jacket.  There’s nothing better than waxed cotton.
2. Bishop Waterfowl Decanter Set:  Cheers, hunters.  Keep the duck theme while you are sipping on the brown water.
3. Drake Under Wader Pants 2.0:  They ain’t sexy, but they work.  The stirrups are a must for under wader pants.  The camo and cut work just fine for goose hunting in the afternoon, then hanging around the lodge before dinner.
4. Ball and Buck Olive Waxed Cotton Hat:  Back to the waxed cotton: there isn’t anything better.  We like how Ball and Buck does it.
5. JT Spencer Wood Duck Belt: I’ll argue that male wood ducks are some of the most handsome animals on the planet.  Their coloring is stunning.  The fine folks at JT Spencer did a good job of capturing it on their emblematic belt; a gift he is sure to appreciate.
6. Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 Shotgun:  My best friend absolutely swears by this gun.  He’s shot a ton of ducks, so he knows what he’s talking about.  Then he let me shoot it.  Santa – are you reading??
7. Lab & Duck Bottle Stopper:  “Honey, we can use these on the wine bottles…they are super classy.”
8. Duck Head Badge Chinos:  I’m going to start a new hashtag: #lodgewear  Clothes that are suitable to wear around the lodge after hunting.  Those clothes have a flavor all their own, just like these Duck Heads.  Good for drinks, dinner, bonfires, and late night stories.
9. TSG Oxbow Vintage Duck Shotgun Case:  For the guy that shoots a restored vintage shotgun (or any other shotgun for that matter).  The old school camo is super cool, and adds an element of style to your waterfowling getup.
10. Duck Camp Heavyweight Pintail Brown Shirt:  Duck Camp gets a lot of press for their lightweight shirts, but their heavyweights are super nice.  A soft chamois cloth in a slim cut (not skinny), is just what the doctor ordered.
11. Harrell & Sons Blind Bag:  There are plenty of blind bags, but Harrell & Sons bags are handmade by craftsmen in Arkansas with some of the nicest materials available. The better the materials, the better they patina.  He’ll appreciate this many seasons to come.
12. Avery Heritage Waders:  Technology in waders changes every year, just like golf clubs.  The majority of duck waders are some form of camo, which confused me.  Try some solids… Avery is basically Banded, so you know you are getting quality.
13. Stubbs and Wootton Duck Hunting Slippers:  Completely ridiculous, right?  Yeah, call these #lodgewear.
14. Birdstrap D-ring Birdstrap:  A great gift for the waterfowler who has everything.  A nice leather bird strap will be greatly appreciated, especially if he fills all the rings.
15. Duxbak Cold Front Jacket:  A great layering piece that works as a light jacket as well.  Be on the lookout for Duxbak, folks – they are back, and all their new stuff looks outstanding.

What did I miss?

Well done in showing some love to Little Rock and the state of Arkansas. Largely doesn’t get the credit it deserves, but the state is a sportsmen’s paradise in terms of fly fishing and duck hunting. Not to mention, great people and culture.
