Pull On Boots

A purchase of pull-on boots is one that you will not regret. I’m not talking about roper/cowboy boots – I’m talking about traditional work boots/wellingtons, with a non-leather sole. These Red Wings and these Gokeys are in my rotation – especially this time of year.

There are quite a few good options out there – most of which can be found for a very reasonable price:

Red Wing Heritage Engineer Boots – These are ‘Amber’. Check out the ‘Burnt Orange Suede’ option, too.

Pick a pair (or two) that you like – they are tough to wear out. They’ll be around for a long time.

All 5 are excellent choices! They are great for upland game to repel snake bites and other dangers.

Not one of those is going to stop a snake. Maybe the Russell.

    Brooks Brothers???

I wear a pair of Ariat Wellingtons. I have worn them for 8 years now. Yet to wear them out. I wear them hunting, work, around town… I've put a ton of miles on them and they are comfortable and very good shoes. Highly recommend. Especially over any boot made by BB…

Nice collection, I still have my eye on the LL.Bean Signature Red Wings.
While we are on the subject, what is the fit like on Justin ropers? Do you have to size down like most boots?

James – The Montana boots are actually made by a company called Tecnica. Orvis sells them as well: http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=3G04

EOO – Those LL Bean Signature Red Wings are sharp. As for Justin Ropers – my experience is that they are pretty spot on. If I sized down, mine wouldn't fit.

Theodore – IMHO, these are the type of boots that aren't worn to church, but look good with jeans and khakis. Don't forget the OTC socks.

That Red Wing Heritage boot looks really cool. I'm going to start looking around SC for it!

The Danner Sharptail, in its original model, was an outstanding pull on. The zippered back and soft leather made for a comfortable boot. I've bought newer models that had stiffer leather and now the original Vibram sole has been replaced with an athletic-shoe looking sole. Danner really screwed up a fine boot. -gpw
