In Hand: Costa Del Mar ‘Cut’ Sunglasses

I’m a big proponent of owning multiple pairs of sunglasses.  Different situations call for different shades.  I have quite a few pairs of sunglasses – from Randolph Engineering to Persol to Costa del Mar.  I’m really picky about lenses, so I usually go for higher end glasses.

When playing golf or anywhere near the water, I always opt for Costa del Mar.  It’s what they were made for.  The good folks at Costa sent me a pair of their newest frames – the ‘Cut’ to review (disclosure and all…).  My first impression is that they look like a grown up pair of Costas.  They have a very ‘wayfarer’ look, which is a slight departure from the normally sporty Fathom-like frames.  This makes them much more versatile – these will look good in normal Costa situations, as well as more dressy occasions.

This is a newer frame color – called ‘Coconut Fade’, which looks good.  I opted for a lens color called ‘Copper’, which is a bit more red than the popular amber color.  As expected, the lenses make everything super crisp.

I’m really looking forward to getting these out on the course or out to the beach…

How do these fit under a cap or tour visor? I like the look but hate it when sunglasses cause a hat to sit higher than it would without the shades.

Look very similar to the Suncloud Speedtraps which are a third of the price. Solid looking shades but I really wish Costa would bring back the Grand Catalinas instead of another pair reminiscent of the Wayfarer.
