Filson Dry Bags

I saw these dry duffles from Filson when they came out last year, and honestly didn’t think much of it.  They are a pretty good price point, but seem pretty niche in terms of use.  I saw them again on East Dane again, and I’m looking for some help…what would you use these bags for?   I like the backpack:

I could see this as a good backpack for taking the dog to the river, hikes, etc.?  Maybe?  I’m not a big backpack guy, but I feel like I may have a solution looking for a problem?

I don’t know.  What do you think?

Just got the duffle. It’s strong, dry, and great for traveling anywhere things could get wet, snow, bed of a pickup, camping in rainy weather, etc.

I understand what they are going for, I just think that if I were in the market for something along those lines, Filson isn’t where I would go.

I think Patagonia has an awesome selection in their “Black Hole” line. Based on the online measurements, the Filson Medium bag is not even half the size of the 120L bag from Patagonia, and only $9 cheaper. The Filson bag vinyl is 44oz whereas the Patagonia is 59 oz.

Granted, the Filson is made in the USA and has a cleaner look, but I think functionality and “bang for buck” would have to go to Patagonia.

I think these are a much more technical product, and I can’t really see using one unless going on a canoe or rafting trip, or as @Hawk098 mentioned, perhaps in the bed of a pickup.

Probably a good bag, but I agree if I wanted a dry bag I would go with Patagonia or Fishpond. I am a longtime Filson customer and their waxed cotton & leather is all world. I just don’t see them in the synthetic market.

@ALEX JOHNSON The problem is that the Patagonia Black Hole bags are not even a little waterproof. They are “water resistant” because the outer fabric is plasticized, but all that does is make them impossible to dry. Love Patagonia, but their black hole stuff is made for walking to a cab in the rain, not any serious outdoor activity. To compare them to any dry bags is to compare apples to oranges. They simply aren’t in the same category.
