A Question for Tennessee Fans

I have a serious question for my Tennessee friends.  In all seriousness – this is not a jab, no harm intended, nothing under-handed.  I’m seriously curious:

What move the needle more for Tennessee fans: Losing to Florida at home, or Lane Kiffin losing to Stanford, essentially killing his chances to win the National Championship?

As a die hard, lifelong, Tennessee fan, nothing can make up for that second half meltdown and loss to Florida, but USC and Kentucky suffering such upsetting losses did take the edge off a little. Basically it comes down to the fact that I’ve spent 23 years conditioning myself to have an almost Pavlovian response of both rage and disgust towards anything even remotely related to the UF, but I’ve only had a few years to develop a hatred for Kiffin.

Giving up a late lead to the Gators and losing at home (and as the featured matchup in ESPN) is worse by miles. Not even close. Most of why we hate Kiffin anyway is because of how many of these losses he helped tack onto our program. I could care less about his current team.

Losing to Florida at home for the 8th time is about as much fun as a bag of soggy corndogs.

Florida is a rival, that’s always worse. Kiffin was a coach for a year. Hatred of Florida is decades old. And USC isn’t necessarily out of the title hunt just yet. Fight on

Tough to lose to Florida…again…but, it sure was nice to see Kiffin lose. Wiped that smirk right off his face.

Nothing good comes in a blue and orange package. The florida game has always defined Tennessee’s subsequent season, so it is killer to see history repeat itself for the eighth straight year. Kiffin was also a scoundrel so Im glad he is out ruining some other program with his lack of character (que his coed scandal here). He would have driven Tennessee into the ground so Im glad he’s as far away as possible and seeing him loose was a sweet moment but not nearly enough to overcome the sickening blow from that (scoff) team from gainesville.

Hands down losing at home to Florida. As a student at UTK and being at the game in the heart of the student section I saw people break down in tears. After the game had ended Knoxville was so quiet, you could practically hear someone whisper something from the other side of campus.

It was a really tough blow after three things: coming off of a massive win for the first home game of the season (albeit Georgia State), having College Game Day come to campus and having Corso give UT the pick, and then going into half being in the lead and being blown away 15 minutes later.

I’m so tired of losing to Florida. When Da’Rick got the boot, it was a little upsetting. But Cordarrell Patterson picked up the slack and then some. In addition, this is a make or break season for Dooley. So this loss did not help his case either.

    Go Vols!

    Late comment sorry…

As a Vol fan, I was cautiously optimistic about the FL, but knew it was going to be a tough game to win. So, while the loss hurt, I was not shocked. I think the Vols need to win AT LEAST one against the big 4 (FL, GA, SC, and AL) and when ALL of the games they are “supposed” to win.

But, it has been GREAT to watch the Kiffin meltdown. The loss, the blaming Matt Barkley, the storming out of his press conference, etc. GREAT. Couldn’t happen to a classier guy.
