2010 Christmas Recap

The 2010 Christmas season has drawn to a close. All the decorations have been taken down. The good Bowl Games are finally on TV. Looking back, I’m a lucky man. Not because of the loot, but because of the families and fellowship of this Christmas season. Being a Georgia-boy, I’ve never seen a white Christmas. The last time it snowed in Atlanta on Christmas was 1882. Granted, I wasn’t in Atlanta for Christmas morning – we were in Tennessee – but this is what we woke up to:

Off the back porch – there are about a hundred geese in the creek below.

The hill. Iced.
We celebrate multiple Christmas’ – Mrs. Red Clay Soul’s family as well as mine. Both families can cook – no doubt about it. Stretch-pants type cooking. Highlight #1: My Mother-In-Laws Standing Rib Roast, with a rosemary/thyme/garlic rub:

Highlight #2: My Grandmother’s homemade stuffing (not pictured). It’s outstanding – so moist that it doesn’t need any gravy. Dinnertime was torture to our dogs:

Everyone was very generous with my gifts this year as well:

Filson 257. Just an upgrade from my Battenkill.

Some Crown Royal. I’ve been mixing this with Ginger Ale lately. Good stuff.

The Avett Brothers: I and Love and You

Domke F10. A good bag for my DSLR camera that doesn’t really look like a camera bag.

LL Bean Waxed Cotton Down Vest. Used some Christmas money for this.
Mrs. Red Clay Soul got the 17″ Macbook Pro. That thing is awesome – I may be upgrading once I wear this one out.
To all the Red Clay Soul readers and fans – From the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank you enough for all of your support and comments. I hope all of you had a great holiday season and 2010. Here’s to an even better 2011!
Cheers!

Nice post. I have the Filson 257 for a year or two now and it ages nicely. Lost our yellow lab this year so just the black lab now and she was also watching the Christmas feasting from the kitchen gate. Best wishes for a Happy New Year.

Stunning outdoor photos, but my favorite is of the three noble canines.

    You are a blessed man.
