Unicorn: Patagonia Cashmere Snap T

I recently came to know about the ultra-exclusive Patagonia 100% cashmere Snap-T.  A good friend brought it to my attention…  We are all aware of how great the Patagonia Snap-Ts are, as we’ve all had them for as long as we can remember.  I found an old hunter green one last time I was at my folks place.  No joke, that one dates to the 90s, and it still looks great.

Let’s just say that the cashmere version is essentially impossible to find.  I did a little research, and it seems that these were done as part of a capsule collection called ‘Truth in Materials’.  Here are the details on the Snap-T:

Mongolian nomads have long known that the key to keeping their grasslands healthy is moving their herds and maintaining a proper ratio of goats to sheep. Patagonia’s undyed cashmere is hand-harvested by Mongolian goat herders who brush their flocks as they shift grazing grounds according to the seasons. The colors of the yarns – whites, browns and tans – are as nature intended. The end result is a material untouched by the process of fiber dyeing, which lessens the environmental impact and gives the material an even softer hand.

Pretty heady.  Cool.

Remember I said that they were ‘essentially impossible’ to find?  Well, I found one, and it arrived the other day:

This thing is awesome.  The colors are perfect, and the vintage logo is a nice touch.  It’s everything I’d expect from a Snap-T, and it’s cashmere.  Yeah, and since I got it for a steal, I plan on wearing the hell out of this…

Good work, Patagonia.  My only complaint is that you don’t create pieces like this more often.
