RCS Likes: Garden & Gun Magazine

I was first made aware of Garden & Gun magazine in April of 2008, and send in for the free issue.
The first issue that came featured an article about Davis Love III (one of my favorite golfers) and his hunting preserve near Sea Island, GA (one of my favorite places). I have been hooked ever since. In fact, I gave three households subscriptions for Christmas last year. They have all enjoyed the magazine thoroughly.
The magazine doesn’t have much to do about hands-on gardening, or really much about guns; save for a few articles about the newest firearms or hunt clubs. What it does have is a great character about the Southern lifestyle. It focuses on happenings from Texas to DC and below, Southern food, Dogs & their owners, music, entertainment, some style here and there, and a feature article. This month’s feature is about ‘The Secret South’ – all the greatest – but not well known – things/places/attractions that we have below the line.
The writing is great. The photography is as good as any I’ve ever seen – it is probably my favorite part about the magazine. Overall, Garden & Gun’s subject matter is very appropriate from where it is published – Charleston, SC. My only complaint is that it only comes out every other month. Now, if I could just get my hands on a couple of those Garden & Gun koozies…
