Lace Up Boots

I’m getting on the lace up boot bandwagon.  Now to decide which one…

The Wolverine, or the Alden Indy. These seem to the two that really kicked off the boot come-back, and still seem to be the two best.

I am with Benn. I love the 1000 miles a ton, and you just can’t go wrong with a boot named after the most bad ass archaeologist of all time

I am going in a diffent direction. The lace up boot is about performance. The Indy boot, a classic. But the Red Wing looks more like you actually need a boot, and authenticity is the cornerstone of style.

Alden Indy if your going for rugged.
Alden Cordovan if your going for swag.

The problem that I have with most of these is that they look like “Depression-era” work boots. I do like the Trickers boot, but I could never pull the trigger on any of the others. I am not criticizing your choices – its just MY problem.

Whilen none are a bad choice, to me, it comes down to how you are going to wear the boot: casual from jeans to khakis or dressier with slacks, etc. For casual, you just can’t beat an all-time classic in the Alden Indy boot. Dress calls for the the Tricklers. Either way, you can’t lose.

Check out the ultimate indy from Leather Soul. The pair I have is Horween’s kudu leather – which is essentially heavily oiled and hand treated calfskin, done in the same procedure as shell cordovan. You may have to wait for the next production run, but the wait was worth it.
