Gokey Restoration: Before and After

When it come to heritage footwear, Gokey leads the pack.  Handmade since 1850 here in America, and now a stand-alone part of the Orvis family, they are boots that last a lifetime.  We are going to dig deep into Gokey in the coming months, but given that Fall is fast approaching, it’s a good idea to get your Gokeys in for a restoration.  You want them ready for action, right?

Call the good folks at Orvis and they’ll help you get your shoes to the Gokey headquarters in Tipton, Missouri.  Gokey provides all sorts of options, depending on the need of the shoe or boot, beginning with a resole on up to full restoration.

The good folks at Gokey were nice enough to send me some before and after pictures.

Been wearing Gokey’s pull-on field boot since my first pair in 1988 during college years. Bought a back-up pair at the Orvis factory store in Manchester VT in 2005. My first pair received a new sole and rehab that same year and I now rotate them out.

Do not, however, forget about the Gokey Sauvage oxford. I’ve worn a pair of these since 1998 and they really are the ultimate “blucher”.

Can’t say enough good things about Orvis Gokey!

I bought a pair fo their snake boots years ago. They were expensive. Sadly, they are not wearable. I cannot even get my toes to touch the inside sole let alone put them on. They are just too small. It seems they believe men have feet and legs the size of small birds. They should have been made way bigger in diameter. I would like to return them or perhaps someone much smaller can use them?

Can I still get Gokey boots custom fit to my extra wide feet? Orvis no longer provides this service.

Love my Gokey moccasins. Have just about worn mine out and need a new pair. Do I direct the inquiry here?

Hello, the Gokey Company now sells their merchandise under the gokeyusa name and can be found at gokeyusa.com. They were sold by Orvis prepandemic to Boyt Harness Co. They still offer the same great repair services out of Tipton, Missouri. All the repair information can be found on their website. Very reasonable rates for their repair services. They make great shoes, boots, luggage etc. I stumbled upon them at goodwill about 10 years ago and still have my original loafers. Since then I’ve added most of their lineup. Bulletproof construction. I know the author of the blog is favoring Russell Moccasins these days but now is really the time to get Gokey products for a heavily discounted price on eBay. Just thought I’d share because the company doesn’t really advertise much or at all.
