Introducing the Reds from Jack Donnelly

Great news, folks – the good folks at Jack Donnelly have released the next iteration of their outstanding Carter pants – the Reds.  We’ve talked about the Carters before…they quite possibly might be the greatest 3-season khakis ever made.  The addition of the Reds is an excellent move, and helps round out the color pallet. […]

How does the color compare to Nantucket Red? I picked up my first pair of NRs from the recent Onward Reserve sale and love the color. Wouldn’t mind getting a second pair of Reds.

Gregg Donnelly - July 16, 2014 - 3:37 PM

Hi Steven – Thanks for your question and interest in Jack Donnelly. I would say it’s similar, with the biggest difference being the NR seems to be a little more faded – ours it’s a little richer in color. I hope that makes sense. We’re happy to send you a pair for you to check out. If you have any further questions shoot me an email at

Unless you bought your Nantucket Reds at Murray’s you’re just wearing knockoffs. Their the original and I’ve yet to see a pair that wears or fades as well as Murray’s.

Gregg, thanks for the offer. That is very kind. I have purchased a few pairs of JDs and they are by far my favorite chinos. Keep up the great work.

Bull & Moose

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…one of the best parts about doing Red Clay Soul is finding, meeting, and talking about new brands.  I had heard about Bull & Moose from Caroline, and was intrigued.  Coincidently, Diego, one of the founders, reached out shortly thereafter. Bull & Moose is a Veteran-owned start […]

Reverb: The Sid Mashburn Warehouse Sale – The Goods

In a follow-up to the first Sid Mashburn Warehouse Sale post, I wanted to show you the goods.  After it was all said and done, I didn’t realize the value of early entry into the sale.  When the doors opened at 10, the line was roughly around the building.  So here we go…please pardon the […]

Glad you made out like a bandit. Came through ATL bout 12 hours too early or I’d have been in there snatching and grabbing myself.

Honeymoon Packing – His Edition

I am beyond excited.  For those of you that follow Red Clay Soul on Instagram, you know that my future bride-to-be and I are heading south in a couple weeks to a remote island in the Caribbean to get married and enjoy our honeymoon.  Being the ultra-organized people we are, we have started to talk […]

No watch? Otherwise that is a solid wardrobe for a tropical island. I would swap out the ball cap for some type of straw fedora or similar. What about something like this:

Keeping track of time will be the last thing on his mind during the honeymoon. Hope y’all have a blast, Jay!

BMO'C - July 9, 2014 - 9:45 AM

Love those Southern Proper shorts. Congratulations and have a great time!

JRS - July 9, 2014 - 11:27 AM

@Steven – I’m not really a fedora kind of guy.

@Grayson – BINGO

@BMO’C – We are heading to Harbour Island in the Bahamas. Can’t wait…

How are you liking the Bongo speakers? Just ordered one last minute for a beach trip this weekend.

RCN - July 9, 2014 - 4:18 PM

As always a great eye RCS… wouldn’t change a thing. Y’all have a blast and congratulations to you both. P.S. Totally not a fedora guy.

Hi, was wondering if you can supply a review of the Res Ipsa loafers. I’m contemplating grabbing a pair and am curious about comfort, fit/sizing, and any other info you can give as there isn’t much out on the web in terms of reviews. Love the site, thanks for any and all help.

In Pictures: The Sid Mashburn Warehouse Sale

A couple of weeks ago, Sid and Ann Mashburn held their now famous Warehouse Sale.  They were nice enough to invite me to come in a little early to take some shots of the merchandise before the mayhem began.  It truly was an awesome experience.  I have so much respect for Sid, not only for […]

This sale was so huge I had to send my buddy Ryan to score me some deals now that I live in Chicago.

How sweet is that coral colored jacket in the second photo?!

Sid is by far one of the coolest people I have ever met.
