Top of the Heap: Lindsey Harper from Lindsey Coral Harper Interior Design

I had the pleasure of meeting Lindsey Harper at a recent Supper Club dinner here in Atlanta.  She is a serious interior designer – the ‘featured in Southern Living, House Beautiful, Elle Decor, and Garden & Gun’ type of serious.  She’s also the sister of previous ‘Top of the Heap’ contributor and RCS friend Hil […]

Summer Goods – Part One

Welcome Summer… In the South, we go into ‘survival mode’, but relish in it.  It’s hot, it’s sticky, but it’s our slice of Heaven.  There are quite a few tricks of the trade to make it through (most of which involve ‘shade’ of some sort), there’s no reason not to enjoy yourself.  So here we […]

I had heard rumors that costa was discontinuing the harpoon because the brines and the harpoons were so similar. Nevertheless, either pair are great!

JThom - May 30, 2012 - 4:22 AM

I love — and have missed — these classic RCS lists. This one is no different.

Wax On, Wax Off: Barbour Reproofing

When making an investment in anything—hunting gear, a new skiff, one of Ted Juracsik’s famed fly reels—it’s a great idea to commit to regular maintenance and upkeep. Clothes are no different. And, with the rainy months nearly behind us, now is the time to send that well-worn Barbour jacket out for a little TLC. The worst […]

Matt - May 25, 2012 - 9:08 AM

Looks good. I tried my first attempt at rewaxing this past winter. It wasn’t too bad, took about 2 hours or so to apply the wax and then a few days to fully dry.

Dan R - May 25, 2012 - 9:24 AM

Thanks for the write-up and the photos. I have a waxed Filson jacket that will probably need to be reproofed after one more year of wear and regardless of who I use to do it (I am not going to bother myself with it) it is very interesting to see what goes into the process.

TMD - May 25, 2012 - 9:50 AM

Great read. Just FYI…. Barbour has an American Reproofing center now. $36 got my 7 year old jacket back to a factory finish. They guarantee to have your jacket shipped in 3-4 weeks.

Adam - May 25, 2012 - 10:27 AM

Best post title in the history of ever.

Also. check out Muffy Aldrich’s blog for another good post on visiting the barbour restoration place.

eric - May 25, 2012 - 3:26 PM

I can attest to the quality NE reproofers – I had my Beauford reproofed a few weeks ago and turned out really nice, and the service was awesome.

Eye Candy: Vintage Barbour | Red Clay Soul - November 8, 2012 - 8:03 AM

[…] Barbours, and will never wear anything else.  Nothing ages like the waxed cotton of a Barbour, and reproofing keeps it on track for it’s nine lives.  Don’t have one yet?  What are you waiting […]

Top of the Heap: Nick from Great Lakes Prep

My man Nick does an outstanding job of holding down the ‘Prep’ fort up North.  His blog Great Lakes Prep is a daily read, and has recently been picking up some steam.  Check out his contribution to ‘Top of the Heap': “My favorite thing that I own, something with a great deal of meaning to […]

Here, people are prone to play while they might usually,
therefore it has its benefits.

Something Navy – And Casual

The other day I saw a guy wearing a pair of Navy canvas ‘sneakers’ sockless, with a pair of khaki shorts, and an untucked white polo.  It was such a simple look, and the navy shoes really gave it an almost whimsical feel.  It wasn’t as casual as flip flops, and not as formal as […]

Those are all nice, particularly the Billy Reid K-Swiss. With shoes that dark it helps to have at least a little bit of a tan on your legs to minimize the contrast.

Matt P - May 21, 2012 - 11:11 AM

I wear my all navy supergas very regularly in the summer.

Kevin @ The Trot Line - May 21, 2012 - 1:16 PM

Big fans of the Tretorns… If you’re in ATL, you can get head over to Sid Mashburn and finish off the summer look.

Great suggestions!

Paul - May 21, 2012 - 8:41 PM

I’ve got two pairs of the Billy Reid x K-Swiss sneaks (the white pair and the charcoal pair), as well as a pair of white Nylites… Honestly, they are both amazing so you really can’t go wrong. No experience with those Adidas though.

Evan - May 22, 2012 - 1:14 AM

+1 for Tretorns

John - May 22, 2012 - 3:58 PM

I’ve been wearing a pair of “navy” Vans Authentics. I kinda surprised myself by buying them really as they’re not something I would generally wear, but as I get a little older I find myself more willing to branch away from the “curriculum” if you will. So yea, Vans Authentics are awesome.

BFT - May 25, 2012 - 11:34 AM

I picked up a pair of the navy Billy Reid K-Swiss’s this past January at the Billy Reid store in Charleston and couldn’t be happier with them. They are the perfect summer time casual shoe. I’m also expecting them only to get better with age.
