Saddle Up

Business First: Alden 9942: That natural sole is perfect. Alden 993: Black Shell Cordovan…as serious as it gets. Allen Edmonds Shelton: Everyone I knew had the burgundy/black version growing up. Proof that they will never go out of style. And Fun: Cole Haan Henry: Complete with medallion. Johnston & Murphy Brennan: Easter Style Trickers Saddles: […]

Have a look at the Castaway saddle shoes! really nice!

PA2Florida - April 30, 2011 - 12:24 AM

I just got a pair of these two tone Alden cordovans from Leathersoul in Hi. These are hands down the sickest pair of saddle shoes ever made. If you have the means, I highly recommend it!

I put my Allen Edmonds NIB on Ebay! 9.5D anyone???

Really digging the Trickers and McNairys.

New Arrival: Tucker Blair Needlepoint

My Tucker Blair South Carolina needlepoint belt arrived yesterday. My first impression is great – solid construction, great colors, tight stitching, and nice leather. I may have caught the ‘needlepoint belt’ fever. Inside the box I did get a great deal on this (1/2 off flash sale), so pulling the trigger was a no-brainer. Follow […]

I love Tucker Blair; I have a headband & key fob from them. They used to make flip flops, and I'm sad they don't anymore, I really wanted a pair!

No self respecting Cracker should be caught dead in a Crescent and Palm.

The Summer Sport Coat

Certain staples should be in every man’s closet – one of those should be a Summer sport coat. No, this isn’t a regional thing, but here in the South it is a must. Cotton, linen, silk – or a blend – are perfect for hot Sunday afternoons after church or the humid nights out on […]

At the SCAD thing Fred spoke at last night, there was this guy with an awesome navy gingham sport coat. I would love one of those.

RCS Likes: Patagonia Stand Up Shorts

It is impossible to do one post that highlights Patagonia. I am a huge fan of all of their stuff – Snap Ts, Baggies, Polos… and especially the Stand Up shorts. Is ‘legendary’ an appropriate word to use for these? I think they are bulletproof. I became introduce to these while pledging, and have been […]

There was a great steel blue/gray color called Pewter maybe 6-7 years ago, have worn mine out and waiting for them to reissue.

I'm a huge patagonia fan myself!

So far as a stand-up pants replacement–the best stand-in I've found is the Mountain Khakis Original Alpine Pant. Not a perfect stand-in, but a gap filler none the less.

The Duck - April 25, 2011 - 6:48 PM

I had quite a few pairs in college and wore them all out when I moved to Charleston. Fishing and drinking all day and night are tough on stand-ups.

JRS - April 26, 2011 - 12:07 AM

@Matt – I remember those. Great color (that they should bring back…)

@ Anon – I have a pair of the MH Alpine Pants – great stuff.

@ Duck – I can't think of a better place to wear out Stand Ups than Charleston.

Anonymous - April 27, 2011 - 12:14 AM

I love these shorts, but I never know what to wear them with. I'd feel weird wearing them with a polo or oxford. Just a pocket T?

Anonymous - April 30, 2011 - 6:19 AM

Kinnucans in Oxford had standup pants earlier this year, I would assume that all of their other locations did as well.

Long fleshlight sleeves offer the most safety and often have a traditional look.

RCS Likes: My New iPad2

My iPad 2 came earlier this week. This is my first – it’s not an upgrade for me. First impressions – it is really nice. Extremely convenient. Mine is the black 32G WiFi + AT&T 3G, and the case is a leather, aluminum-lined Proporta (I talked about it here). I wanted something that didn’t look […]
