You forgot Drivin N Cryin, Widepsread Panic, and Drive By Truckers (all of which are better than the Crowes).

Anonymous - March 31, 2011 - 12:09 PM

Absolutely the best music!

j.mosby - March 31, 2011 - 1:42 PM

Greg Allman's new CD "Lowcountry Blues" is a real masterpiece…buy it!

Main Line Sportsman - March 31, 2011 - 3:12 PM

Nothing better than The Allman Bros. on Spring day….or anytime for that matter!~

I'm a Midwesterner, but you'll get no argument from me. Southern rock is some of the best around! I listened to a lot of this while growing up in the early 1980s. I also would mention the Outlaws and early Charlie Daniels Band as worth checking out if you enjoy classic Southern rock like Marshall Tucker Band.

The Crowes are better than DNC, and Drive By. I like all of them but the Crowes are definitely the best of that group. You can't really compare them to Widespread because they are so different but they're all great southern bands

sweethomeamy - March 31, 2011 - 6:40 PM

Like times 1,000! Awesome post.

Let The Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore - March 31, 2011 - 8:08 PM

Agreed…they are all great!
My initial thought was “there's a fat man in the bathtub” xx

JRS - March 31, 2011 - 10:49 PM

@James – WSP deserves their own post… DnC are great, as well as DBT. Don't forget Gov't Mule…maybe I'll have a second post.

@j.mosby – I'll pick it up tomorrow…thanks for the recommendation.

@EAS – great quote…

Sundresses and Smiles - March 31, 2011 - 10:56 PM

love this post! it makes me think of the many frat parties i've been to over the years that have played this music and had cover bands!

The Motherload of Estate Sales

Red Clay Soul Tumblr followers saw my hauls from a recent Estate Sale in a nicer part of town. It was the first estate sale I’ve ever visited, and I think the bar has been set way too high. Rumor was the guy moved, but considering what he left behind, he decided not to pack. […]

Man, what a haul!!! The watch is terrific – the shirts amazing.

j.mosby - March 29, 2011 - 1:39 PM

Shut the front door! What a haul.

Keith - March 29, 2011 - 7:29 PM

That was an amazing grab.. It's not often you find such a great estate sale.

Charlie - March 29, 2011 - 9:25 PM

I picked up a pair of those Faconnable khakis in a mushroomish color from a local Goodwill. Very similar quality construction to Bill's. Seam ripper took care of the orange label easy enough too. Enjoy that haul.

Raulston - March 29, 2011 - 9:31 PM

What a sight to be had. Well done!

David - March 30, 2011 - 5:57 PM

Wow, that's incredible. Wish I had that guy's clothing budget. It's great you were able to give some of it a good new home.

Sundresses and Smiles - March 31, 2011 - 4:30 AM

wowee! what a loot!

#5–My son calls those Frat Cleats. But both DOTR and J3 say they are the most comfortable shoes they've ever owned.

Sour Smashed - March 25, 2011 - 3:27 PM

Hey – I picked up the 890s about 2 weeks ago. I'm liking them a lot – pretty plush ride for such a light trainer.

Paul - March 25, 2011 - 5:52 PM

Air Grants are 10 times more comfortable than the Garrisons… I have 3 different pairs.

Max - March 25, 2011 - 6:19 PM

Air grants are the way to go, got a pair a few weeks ago, barely have taken them off.

Sundresses and Smiles - March 25, 2011 - 8:42 PM

LOVINGGG the belt!

Ben - March 26, 2011 - 12:53 AM

#3… for those who think the pony should be just a LITTLE bit bigger.

Anonymous - March 26, 2011 - 1:56 AM

big ponys. NF

JRS - March 26, 2011 - 11:47 AM

@MotR, Paul, & Max – I found the Garrisons on sale and pulled the trigger…they were about half the price of the Grants, but will probably have a short shelf-life, as they haven't left my feet yet. Grants are next as the Garrisons have been discontinued (?).

@Sour – I'm going to try them on today…

@Sundresses – It will be mine…soon.

@Ben & Anon – Agree, the big pony sucks. Two things: 1. Polo's trunks fit me the best, so it's collateral damage. 2. Big Pony > Cargo Pocket.

Ben - March 27, 2011 - 5:40 PM

@J – Okay, okay… if forced, it would be the following ranking: big pony > cargo shorts > jean shorts. Have you tried Southern Tide's Channel Shorts?

J. Hilburn: The Devil Is In the Details

I love a good deal. J. Hilburn is a Dallas-based custom clothier just went live on the Internet. While just about every other men’s store has an online presence, J. Hilburn’s is different – their customers have the ability to customize their shirts online – for (as low as) $99. You will not find a […]

Anonymous - March 25, 2011 - 1:38 AM

Different direction here…I am thinking about getting a Folsom tin cruiser jacket…what do you think…I know you have a briefcase….lived alpharetta and now in central Kentucky…thoughts?

JRS - March 25, 2011 - 10:14 AM

@Anon – I'd do it. I'm really impressed with Filson thus far, and it would be well suited for your previous and current climate.

George Strait – The Fireman (Live in Tucson)

How about a little gitty-up…
