Pull On Boots

A purchase of pull-on boots is one that you will not regret. I’m not talking about roper/cowboy boots – I’m talking about traditional work boots/wellingtons, with a non-leather sole. These Red Wings and these Gokeys are in my rotation – especially this time of year. There are quite a few good options out there – […]

All 5 are excellent choices! They are great for upland game to repel snake bites and other dangers.

James Pressley - October 26, 2010 - 3:28 PM

Not one of those is going to stop a snake. Maybe the Russell.

Brooks Brothers???

I wear a pair of Ariat Wellingtons. I have worn them for 8 years now. Yet to wear them out. I wear them hunting, work, around town… I've put a ton of miles on them and they are comfortable and very good shoes. Highly recommend. Especially over any boot made by BB…

Nice collection, I still have my eye on the LL.Bean Signature Red Wings.
While we are on the subject, what is the fit like on Justin ropers? Do you have to size down like most boots?

Theodore - October 26, 2010 - 6:23 PM

what pants do you wear with these kinds of boots? denim? khaki? both?

JRS - October 26, 2010 - 11:42 PM

James – The Montana boots are actually made by a company called Tecnica. Orvis sells them as well:

EOO – Those LL Bean Signature Red Wings are sharp. As for Justin Ropers – my experience is that they are pretty spot on. If I sized down, mine wouldn't fit.

Theodore – IMHO, these are the type of boots that aren't worn to church, but look good with jeans and khakis. Don't forget the OTC socks.

Main Line Sportsman - October 27, 2010 - 4:58 AM

JP…I disagree…all 5 would stop a ankle attack from a pissed off fang…

Thomas - October 28, 2010 - 2:32 PM

That Red Wing Heritage boot looks really cool. I'm going to start looking around SC for it!

Anonymous - October 28, 2010 - 4:02 PM

The Danner Sharptail, in its original model, was an outstanding pull on. The zippered back and soft leather made for a comfortable boot. I've bought newer models that had stiffer leather and now the original Vibram sole has been replaced with an athletic-shoe looking sole. Danner really screwed up a fine boot. -gpw

does anyone have any links or pics you could share of how to wear khakis with wellingtons/ropers? im trying this look but unaware of how its supposed to look together..

Silk Regimental - October 17, 2010 - 11:40 PM

Have fun with that camera. I've had a Nikon since 2007 and it's been lots of fun. Get creative!

NCJack - October 18, 2010 - 12:30 AM

Within the width/distance limits of your lens, that setup is all you need for pro level photography. Just don't shoot at the highest ISOs where possible, and get a good tripod (hint: go ahead and spend the $$$ on the "good stuff needs no upgrade" principal) - October 18, 2010 - 1:04 AM

Nice my man!

I use the Canon T2i and have really been impressed with its capabilities.

Look forward to seeing your work with it!

How do you like the Tamron lens? Do you have the VC version or the older one? If you don't mind me asking, what model did your wife get? I'm upgrading an old XTi and having a hard time choosing between the 60D and 7D.

JRS - April 17, 2011 - 2:11 PM

@Whitney – I'll send you an email.

As they should be! Those are some great shoes. I want to go to there.

swirvin - October 17, 2010 - 6:26 PM

i have a pair of these and love them. However, after 5 months they were worn out. Granted, I wore them a lot. But, they aren't cheap and I can not stomach spending that much on another pair.

DAM - October 21, 2010 - 7:32 PM

Huge fan. I have them in a slightly darker color and they are a great fall/winter staple.

Stylus iPad Case - May 7, 2011 - 4:08 AM

Ipad cases should be made of such material that will not rub off and it will not tear despite being used every day to provide protection for their iPad. Cases that enfold the iPad look great and they will give the consumers with a decent quantity of protection against scratching. Thanks a lot.
