Ode to the Double Monk

My man LAS at Sartorially Inclined is leading the charge on double monks – specifically with Allen Edmonds since they discontinued production on the Mora. There are quite a few other options for double monks (we’ll get to that shortly), but were probably the best option for the value conscious shopper. Sid knows. The double […]

Things Is Cool - September 30, 2010 - 3:07 AM

Best shoes ever. Period. Game over. And the Moras…a stellar iteration. Copped a pair in the elusive burgundy this summer. A.E. needs to bring them back.

DAM - September 30, 2010 - 12:57 PM

Some of them look great – others not so much. I'd love to get my hands on Sid's via Taigan, but wow, that would be an investment. - September 30, 2010 - 1:20 PM

Shouldn't have let me know you also take the size 9.5… now if your pad gets broken into and your Moras go missing, just know it was because of this post, and it was me. Hahaha.

Dang, those look beautiful. I've got Moras in black and chocolate suede. My only complaint is that the black ones are really squeaky. I think I need to condition the leather or something.

The brown leather is definitely the most versatile though. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Michael - September 30, 2010 - 2:21 PM

I'm especially inclined to cop a pair of Moras when they're available again as I'm a Wisconsinite.

James Pressley - September 30, 2010 - 2:25 PM

The A&E Mora is IMO the best of the lot. Not sure I agree with jeans but certainly with a great pinstripe suit they look awesome.

David - October 2, 2010 - 7:10 AM

I hope their product development department is taking the requests seriously, they should really make the Mora a permanent addition.

[…] was lucky enough to find a brown pair during their hiatus, and think very highly of them.    The Mora is a part of their custom shoe […]

Double Monks | Red Clay Soul - January 16, 2013 - 7:52 AM

[…] and those that don’t.  At all.  I am still on the double monk bandwagon, wearing my brown Allen Edmonds Moras and my black Magnannis quite a bit.  For us double monk lovers, the good news is that quite a few […]

Silk Regimental - September 25, 2010 - 8:06 PM

have you seen the 2011 model? Very nice – looks like it will make it for the long haul – and be a classic.

Imperial Black - September 26, 2010 - 5:08 PM

Looking Good. Selling our 01 was/is quite near the top of my list of life mistakes (and there have been many mistakes). That thing will bring you back from anywhere. Although sunroofs do always appear to leak.

Mom on the Run - September 26, 2010 - 11:43 PM

We have a 1999 Landcruiser and still love it. Although when we bought it we didn't realize we were getting into a 30 year relationship with a car. Our neighbor down the street still drives her 1982 LC everyday, and the most popular car at the local high school is a 1984. The kid's dad offered to buy him a new car if he'd go to Georgia Southern (on HOPE) instead of Alabama and he declined because he didn't want a new car. DOTR is so hard on vehicles so this is perfect for him. I always tell him that there's a reason you see them driving Landcruisers in caravans in Iraq. New brakes and tires and you're good for another 100,000 miles.

RCS Fall Wish List

The vest is perfect for Fall. 3. Nikon CoolPix p7000: Brand new – compact, but packs a punch. 4. […]

The ‘Sunday’ Burger

A recipe was passed on that is a big hit in our house. I like to call it the ‘Sunday’ burger. Here’s how it works: Ingredients: 1 lb of Extra Lean ground beef 1 Onion (either Vidalia or Yellow) – I also like to add onion powder for extra flavor 1 cup Italian Breadcrumbs 1 […]

Fall Belts

Fall is on the way…it’s (finally) College Football Season, the temperature is dropping, and it’s getting dark a little earlier. Everyone has your standard belt – leather, brass (or silver) buckle, etc. A belt can make an outfit – a somewhat ‘understated’ way to add some punch. Some RCS suggestions for Fall belts: Cole Haan […]
