RCS Spring Gear: More Polos

Clockwise from the top left 1. Southern Tide Seersucker Polo: Great look – seersucker on the placket… 2. LL Bean Signature Casco Bay Polo: The ‘prep’ standard. 3. Masters Polo: Probably impossible to find a ticket this year, so try the ‘bay. 4. Southern Marsh Polo: In ‘Summer Blue’ – simple logo = good logo. […]

I'm digging this Southern Tide co.

The Arnold Palmer

This week, the PGA Tour makes it annual stop at Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. It is a beautiful course, and is quite challenging. #18 Anyone that has followed golf for more than five minutes is aware of Arnold Palmer, and the impact he made on the sport. He brought the sport of […]

Spring Business With A Tassel (or two…)

Thanks, CrackedCrab I’ve always been a big fan of tassel loafers. While not as formal as oxfords/captoes/wingtips, they are more formal than penny loafers. While I’ve seen these worn with suits (and personally think that is a fine look), I like them with dress trousers and a sport coat. Tassel loafers do more to dress […]

Great post, I think a pair of tassels will be at the very top of my "to buy" list once I secure gainful employment.

Magnificent! Tassel loafers are one of my favourite shoes. Very versatile. Footjoy used to make a good pair too.

longwing - March 24, 2010 - 10:15 AM

1 pair is all I can use but I love them. Alden No. 8 shell. I'll wear with any creased pants I own.

Great Post… What's your take on horsebit loafers? Here is an example:

Bow Tie Guy - March 29, 2010 - 1:45 AM

I'm partial to C&J, but have only had one pair from J&M, Deerfield II, back in my younger days. Winsome picks…especially the Alden. I am beginning to wonder why I wear anything but great dress shoes. Each time, regardless of apparel, compliments are forthcoming. I do love my topsiders though.

J, et all- I have the "british tan/cognac" Peal & Co tassel loafers and am always confused as to what color belt. Any thoughts? And besides "british tan/cognac" where would you procure such a number?

I'm also fan of the style because it's so formal, the perfect style when I'm going to the office, actually I'm thinking on buying one pair of every style of them.

Hello i love your choices of tassel loafers, do you have many pairs?

RCS Spring Gear: Short Britches

(L-R starting at the top left) 1. Polo Ralph Lauren ‘Dunay’ Seersucker Shorts: Keep it cool – sure to be a magnet for cocktail sauce. Replace annually. 2. Patagonia Stand Up Shorts: ‘Coriander’ is the color; something different. 3. Victorinox Packable Volley Swim Trunks: Simple with a 6″ inseam. Not too short, not too long. […]

here's my modest summer list, on my modest blog.
Great list, shorter the inseam the better.

I need shorts pretty badly. I'll check out a few if these.

The Enthusiast - March 19, 2010 - 10:04 PM

Agree with you on the navy shorts, you don't realize how often you go for them. With light colored shirts, you need something dark to anchor it and not make you look washed out.

Bow Tie Guy - March 27, 2010 - 9:41 PM

Completely agree with the J.Crew 9" recommendation. They are a warm weather staple in my wardrobe. I'm going to look into some navys. I have a pair of Polo pink oxford cloth shorts, which I love to wear when it is particularly searing.

Here’s to Spring (RCS Nostalgia…)

It’s Friday, the sun is shining, it’s over 70 degrees outside. Here’s to those Happy Hours back in college at your favorite place – Uptown, Steverino’s, 302, Old College Inn… someplace with a porch. …and a little music to enjoy this time of year…

Haven't seen the gray-red one in ages. Have I missed something, or is that currently on offer?

Main Line Sportsman - March 15, 2010 - 5:57 PM

They needed to do something to generate sales…Cabelas has been kicking their butt in outdoor arena and competition from other sellers undermining their loyal base for other clothes/shoes etc. Hope it helps them as I would not know what to do w/o LL Bean

RHW - March 15, 2010 - 6:41 PM

Might get a pair of the signature blucher mocs, but I just got the ranger moc too!

And looks like the winding crown fell off the field watch in the on wrist photo on the site.

JRS - March 16, 2010 - 12:40 AM

I think the line looks excellent – they really out-did themselves. It could do some serious damage to my bank account.
